2026 IS A YEAR OF RE-ENCHANTMENT.

Deconstruction is important and can be soul-saving…but we can’t stay there.

We also can’t go back to pre-cynical magic;
We must be born again into post-cynical mystery.

The journey is often from the heart of a child…to a heart of stone…to a heart of flesh.

Finally letting go of what has already ended so that newness can grow.

May this be a year of courageous, joy-filled, tear-soaked, holy re-enchantment.

Fleshing This Out in Malibu…

On November 9-11th, we’ll explore a handful of interconnected pathways for Re-enchantment. Let us gather in Malibu to lean into the provocative beauty of art, poetry, and justice. Artist Scott Erickson will unpack the healing power of making stuff—both for our own souls and for the soul of the world—and help us roll up our sleeves to create some art of our own. Poet Drew Jackson will lead us beyond the mirage of certainty into the holy possibilities of Mystery. We’ll explore the luminous darkness and the gift of questions. And prophetic pastor Nina Barnes will help us explore the invitation of Christ: to bring good news to the poor, freedom to the prisoners, sight to the blind, and freedom to the oppressed. How can we become communities of love-soaked justice in these troubled days?

And of course, along the way we’ll share meals, sing, pray, wander the stunning grounds of Serra Retreat, learn new practices, exhale fully, offer the gift of listening, practice delight, and anything else that can foster holy space for rest, solidarity, and re-imagination.

The goal is new life, new eyes, new solidarity, new freedom, new hope, new possibilities!
